Ronda Richley

Ronda Richley was born in Ohio but is a California trained artist, now living in Ocala for
the last three years. As her work has spanned decades, the subject matter and style may have changed over time, but always maintained the loyalty of being a process artist. For the artist, is it about the process and joy of creating, experimenting with media and substates, and seeing what will happen with different combinations.

It has been that way since 1990, when graduate school opened new horizons. After years of creating illustrations and designing giftware, finally a new freedom was achieved by creating art for the sake of creating! Palette knife painting, dripping paints, cutting layers into the canvas, building up textures, all became part of the art. After the 1994 Northridge earthquake, Ronda looked for more stable ground and moved to Orlando, Florida. She has had both gallery representation and showings including several solo exhibitions. Ronda was also the founder, owner and curator of Art Affair Gallery in Sanford, Florida, for several years where the works of over forty artists could be found.

In 2020, while enduring chemotherapy and radiation for cancer, Ronda was selected as one of the few artists paint a design on a life-size horse sculpture for Horse Fever 20/20 in Ocala.  Excited and honored, the horse, “Sunny Daze,” was designed to bring joy, health, and luck to all who see his brightly colored sunflowers. You can see “Sunny Daze” at the College of Central Florida Vintage Farm in Ocala.
She is an international award winning artist, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati, and a Master of Studio Arts from California State University, Northridge, and has taught art at colleges and universities across the United States. Her artwork can be found in collections within the United States and around the world. Her art is also in the permanent collection of the Copolous Family Art Museum in Athens, Greece.
