Renowned Artist to Exhibit Award-Winning Work in Hometown Gallery

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 24, 2025) – Native fine artist and author, Dr. Jonathan Knight, will display a lifetime of prized artwork next month at downtown’s Starry Night Gallery (230 S. Beach St.), “where art transcends the ordinary.”

The public may view his “Reflections, A Jonathan Knight Solo Exhibit,” a collection of 28 original drawings and paintings, from Monday, Feb. 3 through Monday, March 3. Art enthusiasts may greet the artist at an opening reception, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the historic gallery site. Admission is free.

The upcoming one-man art show is one of three exhibits Dr. Knight has hosted in his birthplace. “This represents a wonderful homecoming and welcoming back to an area that influenced my early beginnings,” said Knight, who is
among the world’s top watercolorists in the National Watercolor Society.

The month-long exhibit will spotlight his most celebrated artwork, including “The Nesting Place” oil painting (a two-time winner of the Best of Exhibit International Award from the Florida and Georgia Miniature Art Societies)
and prints of his original “You’re Not Alone” watercolor masterpiece − a permanent fixture in the Palm Beach International Airport (West Palm Beach, Florida).

The Mainland Senior High School graduate will also unveil new canvases, such as the “Little Butterfly Girl” watercolor and the “En Hakkore” (body of water) oil painting. Knight’s signature art pieces and merchandise will be available to purchase at Starry Night Gallery, which is co-sponsoring his exhibit with Zanzibar Blu Speakeasy and Hunt House.

Knight, who teaches at the Art League of Daytona Beach, has garnered more than 1,000 national and international art awards during his career, which spans three decades. His award-winning paintings are in permanent collections
of museums across the country (e.g. his “Beach Series” at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; “Dusk,” “The Letter,” and “Proud” at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park, Kansas; and “Wreathed” at the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, Kansas.)

Volusia County’s spawn artist invites all to attend his exhibit and learn why fine art is essential in a digital age that looks to artificial intelligence for creativity.

“Fine art influences every aspect of our lives, but most people do not realize it,” Knight said. “From what we wear to what we drive, and to what we use daily, were all designed by someone creative. Art is somewhat of a template
for creative direction and ingenuity.”
