Jonathan Knight, LHD, NWS
Dr. Jonathan Knight, L.H.D, is an accomplished artist in oils, pastels, watercolors, and printmaking. He is a signature member of the following societies, where he has won Best of Show awards: National Watercolor Society (NWS), Watercolor West (WW), San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS), Mississippi Watercolor Society (MSWS), Southern Watercolor ̶ Life Member (SWLM), Missouri Watercolor Society – Honor Roll (MOWS-HR), Georgia Watercolor Society (GWS), and the Kansas Watercolor Society (KWS). His artwork has been featured in and on the cover of magazines Watercolor, An American Artist Publication (Fall, 1999 issue) and Winter (1995 issue). Other publications that have featured the artist include ARTnews; Flash Art International nº225-Italy, Artist’s Magazine, Tosca, Watercolor Studio Magazine, Exploring Tosca Magazine, American Visions Magazine, American Art Review, Daytona Beach News Journal, and International Review of African American Art (IRAAA). Author of “The Creativity of Jonathan Knight: A Visual Dialogue,” Dr. Knight has appeared on numerous television and radio shows, and news programs.
He is a National Watercolor Society Signature Member and has earned additional signature memberships in nine other national and international art societies. The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale bestowed Knight with a Doctorate of Humane Letters degree in 1999. He was honored to receive keys to the City of Ormond Beach, Florida in 1997 and to the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November 1998 for his contributions to art.
Dr. Knight has won over 1,000 national and international awards in his career thus far. Some of his more notable awards are Best of Show in the MASF International 36th Annual Exhibition; the Sally Davis Award in the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition, Golden, Colorado; 2nd Best of Show in the Northwest Watercolor Society 2008 Open International Exhibition, Seattle, Washington; the Arts in Mississippi Award (Best of Show) in the Grand National Watercolor Exhibition, Jackson, Mississippi; the Best of Show Award in the Arizona Aqueous XIX National Exhibition, Tubac, Arizona; 2nd Best of Show in NWWS 2008 Open International Exhibition, Seattle, Washington; the 1998 Best of Show Award in the 5th Annual Miniature Art Show, Casper, Wyoming; the Kansas Watercolor Society Founders Award; and the Award of Excellence in the San Diego Watercolor Society International Annual Exhibit, to name a few.
