About the Artist and the Creation of Her Works

Susanne Brady grew up in the dark forests between the mountains of the Erzgebirge—once called Miriquidi, the "midnight forest" of ancient lore. Those towering, cold woods gave her both a deep bond with nature and a sense of darkness that flows through her art. Raised within a Christian tradition, yet always sensing the pagan ancestry in her blood, she set out into the world. Traveling across cultures, she absorbed wisdom, myths, and symbols from many peoples. Fascinated by flora and fauna, by religions and the human spirit, she weaves these impressions into her creations.

She is deeply inspired by the ancient art of block printing—from the textile traditions of India and China to the powerful woodcuts of medieval masters. Drawing on her Fine Arts degree in Wood Sculpture and her work as a tattoo artist, she unites both worlds and transforms hand-carved designs into wall art.

The Process of Block PrintingInspiration

Every print begins with an idea—a sketch born from nature, symbols, or imagination.

Transfer
The design is carefully traced onto a printing block—carved from wood or linoleum, depending on the desired structure and texture—always with the awareness that the final image will appear in reverse.

Carving
With sharp tools, the negative space is cut away. What remains raised is what will later hold the ink.

Inking
A roller spreads a smooth layer of ink across the carved block, coating only the elevated design.

Printing
The inked block is pressed onto paper or fabric. Each pull reveals the design in its raw, handmade beauty.

Reveal
No two prints are ever the same—each piece carries the unique touch of the artist, making it a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Block printing is slow, intentional, and soulful—an ancient technique reborn through modern hands.
