Jeniece Shackelford is a Florida-based, Michigan native, and lifelong multimedia artist. She often says she was born with a paintbrush in one hand and a pencil in the other, as she’s been creating since childhood—sketching under church pews to pass the time.

Her earliest inspirations came from her mother and grandmother, both artists in their own right. “My muse is my mom. Every brushstroke carries her memory. She not only taught me skills, she demanded imagination and insisted on creativity. Each painting I create carries her fingerprint.”

Jeniece is versed in many mediums, but she especially loves working in multimedia, oil, and acrylic, where she embraces the dynamic interplay of texture, symbolism, and expression. Her work has been described as sentimental and nostalgic femininity, laced with whimsy and magic. She delights in painting flowers, vintage objects with long-forgotten stories, and expressive figures that stir emotion.

Themes of identity, memory, and reflection are woven into her work, layered with color and texture. Guided by intuition, Jeniece embraces the unpredictable nature of the creative process, allowing each painting to evolve naturally. Her goal is to spark joy, invite thought, and awaken deep feeling—connecting her story to the viewer’s own.

Her award winning artwork has been shown in galleries, featured in magazines (including cover work), and donated to causes dear to her heart such as Families Against Narcotics and Equality Florida.

When she’s not painting, Jeniece enjoys thrifting, collecting polka dots, reading, and writing. Above all, she hopes to inspire young artists to practice, dream, and create with abandon—just as her mother once inspired her.
