Janet Bernadini, Photographer/Artist
As an abstract expressionist since early in her childhood years, Karen fills her blank canvases with a myriad of colors, rhythm, and spontaneous emotion, building layers of colors and forms in her brushwork. Residing in both Colorado and Florida, Karen’s artwork is influenced by the magnificent nature and visual language communicated by the intense palette of the Rocky Mountains and the peaceful waters and white sands of the beach.
My Story
As a photographer, my deep passion lies in capturing the beauty of nature, which manifests in myriad forms from landscapes to the intricate shapes and textures ofvegetables, fruits, and florals.
Through the lens of my camera, I strive to highlight the inherent artistry of the natural world, bringing to the forefront the often-overlooked details that surround us in everyday life.Born in Illinois, I migrated to South Florida in 1972 where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Certification of Education from Florida Atlantic University. I then dedicated 35 years to teaching art and photography in public schools, working with young adults to nurture their creative talents. Throughout my career, I have received numerous awards for my photographs, have exhibited in museums and galleries, but am most proud of the accomplishments of former students who have embraced photography as a lifelong passion.
Today, I continue to explore my love for image-making and the exploration of the craft.
