My Story

Dwight’s artistic journey started with photography that reflected his love for the landscapes of Florida, New York, and New Mexico. He experimented with infrared and monochrome images, transposing his
work onto traditional photographic paper, canvas, and metal.
 

Dwight soon began experimenting with acrylic paint, exploring color and movement on canvas. Creating both small and large-scale works, he developed different techniques to push the boundaries of the medium further. Having established his own unique style and form, his palette ranges from bright colors to more neutral tones that capture the imagination with their intricate patterns, and no two are alike.

With alchemical precision, Dwight uses paint and mediums to achieve greater control over composition.  Once the blueprint is set, he steps back and marvels at the spectacle of colors that organically appear.  Playing on the contrast between negative space and two-tone cell patterns, which
creates imagery that evokes emotion and curiosity, yet looks organic and balanced.
 

Dwight grew up in Florida. He went on to receive his master’s degree in clinical social work and is currently working as a mental health counselor, specializing in couples counseling. He is a self-taught artist and has experimented with color, composition and a variety of paint mediums to establish his unique approach to acrylic painting. His work continues to evolve as he explores new avenues to express his creativity.

Dwight has been painting for 7 years. He has had solo shows in Orlando, FL, Ithaca, NY, Rochester, NY and Baltimore, MD. He has also been in group shows in Rochester, NY, New York City, and Baltimore, MD.
