Debora Helmquist is a representational oil painter whose impressionist-tonalist style explores light as both a physical and spiritual force. Working with classical techniques, she interprets not just what she sees, but what she feels — expressing the inner “light from within” that shapes mood, atmosphere, and meaning. Her paintings reveal beauty in the overlooked and ordinary, inviting viewers to experience a quiet sense of connection, mystery, and inner awakening.

A Florida native and lifelong creative, Debora studied traditional oil painting with Ralph L. Bagley and continued advanced training with several nationally recognized artists. Since 1997, her work has appeared in galleries and juried exhibitions across the country, including shows with Oil Painters of America and the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society. Her paintings are held in public and private collections, including the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach and Volusia County’s Art in Public Places.
